Successful parenting is intrinsic to successful homeschooling. And, as parent educators we gladly embrace these challenges and responsibilities, but – at times – it can seem overwhelming.

GOOD NEWS!

There are those that have gone before, successfully, that will share practical, proven strategies, principles and techniques – allowing us to learn from their experience, and equipping us well for our own challenges and opportunities.

We are honored to have Kirk and Casey Martin, Dr. Scott Turansky, Joanne Miller, and Dr. Kathy Koch leading these sessions in 2015.

Parents cannot afford to miss these sessions!

These sessions are upbeat, often laugh-out-loud funny and PACKED with practical, proven strategies that you may begin to implement right away!

STOP THE YELLING, LECTURING, & POWER STRUGGLES (Kirk and Casey Martin)

Do you need help calming your explosive household? Tired of yelling at, negotiating with and bribing your child? Do you want your child to take responsibility for his school work, chores and attitude? It’s time to stop the yelling, arguing and power struggles with toddlers and teens. How can you expect your kids to control themselves…if you cannot control yourself? Moms, it’s not your job to manage everyone’s emotions and make everyone happy! We’ll show you how to create stress-free mornings, school, dinner and bedtime. We promise you will laugh and leave with a dozen practical strategies that really work.

DISCIPLINE WITH DIGNITY: GET YOUR KIDS TO LISTEN THE FIRST TIME (Kirk and Casey Martin)

Instead of being drawn into power struggles, yelling and giving meaningless consequences, Kirk will show you 10 ways to discipline with dignity so kids listen to, respect and trust you. Stop the whining, complaining and tantrums. Get kids to listen when they are loud in the car or interrupt on the phone. Teach kids to control their own behavior (self-discipline) so you don’t have to “make them” behave.

10 WAYS TO STOP DEFIANCE, MELTDOWNS & DISRESPECT (Kirk and Casey Martin)

Nothing is more frustrating and embarrassing than a child being defiant or melting down in public. Have a little one who looks right through you and says, “No!”? Have a teenager who defies you or rolls his eyes? Have a child who refuses to go places? Kirk will show you how to stop a meltdown in public without losing it yourself! You will learn how to turn emotional power struggles into opportunities to build trust and teach self-discipline. You will be blown away by how practical these strategies are.

MEN ONLY: I WANT TO BE A GOOD DAD & HUSBAND! (Kirk and Casey Martin)

We know how to be successful at work, but feel overwhelmed at home. Our fathers taught us to work hard, be persistent and be tough. But they never showed us how to connect with our wives or discipline our kids without using fear and intimidation. Come laugh and learn practical, real-world strategies to:

  • Change the “my way or the highway” approach that alienates your kids.
  • Calm upset kids instead of escalating situations and punishing.
  • Rebuild broken relationships with challenging kids.
  • Make your wife feel valued and respected instead of dismissing her concerns.
  • Handle chaos, sibling fights, and defiant kids after a long day at work.

STOP MESSY MELTDOWNS & DAILY DRAMA (Kirk and Casey Martin)

Does it seem like you’re on an emotional rollercoaster with constant meltdowns and drama over every little thing? How do you calm a child who loses it, throws tantrums, and gets angry even over little things? How do you help a child who gets physical when upset or just can’t stop screaming and crying? Come learn practical ways to stop the drama!

HOMESCHOOLING IS HEART WORK (Joanne Miller and Dr. Scott Turansky)

Learn the difference between a heart-based approach to child training and simple behavior modification. Although commonly practiced, behavior modification has significant weaknesses. A heart-based approach reaches children in ways that address their tendencies, motivations, and patterns in life. It’s so much more powerful and the practical tools shared in this session will give great insight into the makeup of a child and how kids change. Five points will be shared to help the parent develop a heart-based strategy for any child.

HONOR: THE SECRET INGREDIENT FOR FAMILY LIFE (Joanne Miller and Dr. Scott Turansky)

Many families have a strong emphasis on obedience and their kids do quite well, but God instructs children to learn to obey and honor. This session unpacks the biblical concept of honor in practical terms. God uses the term honor in nine different commands. Honor is a relationship term that can change the culture in a home, teaching kids to consider the needs of others and take initiative to go beyond what’s expected. Parents will learn how honor changes people and how to give children a vision for growing in this area of the heart.

SIBLING CONFLICT IS A CHILD’S FIRST CLASS IN RELATIONSHIP SCHOOL (Joanne Miller and Dr. Scott Turansky)

One of the most discouraging challenges parents face has to do with the bickering and fighting between their children. In this session parents will learn three roadblocks to sibling harmony and the three honor-based solutions from God’s Word. Parents will gain greater confidence for dealing with sibling conflict, understand how to deal with common concerns like tattling and competition, and learn more about honor and how it can change the dynamic in their family.

TEACHING CHILDREN TO RESPOND WELL TO CORRECTION (Joanne Miller and Dr. Scott Turansky)

Many children don’t know how to respond properly to correction. After all, correction is one of God’s tools for learning. Unfortunately many children blame, defend, rationalize and justify their behavior. Furthermore, many parents view correction as an interruption to their lives, not realizing the teaching opportunities present. When parents have a heart-based plan for correction they can help children develop good patterns for the rest of their lives.

ENERGIZE DEVOTIONS SO KIDS BEG FOR MORE (Joanne Miller and Dr. Scott Turansky)

Although the church and support groups may help, the primary job for the spiritual training of children is the responsibility of parents. But how can you do that in fun and creative ways? That’s exactly what parents learn in this session. The language of children is activity and you can tie biblical truth to activities in a way that helps explode the lessons in a child’s heart.

CREATED TO BE (Dr. Kathy Koch)

As Dr. Kathy shares her story, you’ll be able to see yours more clearly. Why were you created? What about your children? Who are they and who are they becoming? You and your children will be inspired by Chatty Kathy’s too-tall, spelling-is-hard, low-voice reality and how it’s God’s perfect design for her. Her humor is disarming and the truths are undeniable. You are who you are supposed to be!
