Policies

We look forward to a great convention that everyone will find enjoyable and valuable. It is our desire that you will be encouraged and inspired, charged with fresh energy and ideas for your homeschooling journey!

Convention registration and other details have been designed to keep things very simple, and to allow us to keep registration pricing as affordable as possible.

Please review our Privacy policy as well as the information below.

Registration

  • All advance registration is online via the convention website and our secure registration form.
  • Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover are all acceptable methods of payment.
  • You will receive two (2) confirmation emails immediately upon registration. One (1) with order details and one (1) with payment confirmation. NO information is mailed to you. You will ONLY receive email confirmations.

Registration Packet

  • Your registration packet will be available at the registration desk when you arrive at the convention, whether you arrive on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. You will simply need to present a copy of your email confirmation or your driver’s license when picking up your registration packet.
  • Your registration packet includes a wristband that is required for entrance into the Exhibit Hall or workshop sessions.
  • If you have ordered Special Event tickets, those tickets will be in your registration packet at the convention.
  • Again, when registering for optional, ticketed special events, please note that each person attending must have their own ticket, including infants and children.

Registration Types

A Full Individual Registration is just for an individual attending the event by themselves. This registration covers you for the speaking sessions and the vending hall for all three days of the convention. Special Event (see below) tickets cost extra. With an individual registration, only one ticket per special event is permitted to be purchased. You must purchase a family registration if other family members plan on attending any of the special events, even if they will not be attending any other part of the convention.

A Full Family Registration is for your immediate family which includes the mother, father, their children, and their children’s grandparents. This registration covers you for the speaking sessions and the vending hall for all three days of the convention. Special Event (see below) tickets cost extra. Each person, including infants and children, needs a ticket to attend. This registration does not include extended family such as aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.

Upgrading from a Full Individual to a Full Family Registration

If you have purchased a Full Individual Registration and would like to upgrade to a Full Family Registration, please send an email to [email protected] with UPGRADE REGISTRATION in the subject line. Be sure to include your name, email, convention you are attending and phone number in your email. You will pay the upgrade fee at the walk up registration desk when you arrive at the convention.

Downgrading from a Family Registration to an Individual Registration

As we are working with a very limited number of staff, unfortunately, this option is not available. Only upgrades are permitted.

Special Events

We have a number of exciting special events lined up each year. Check the list to see what we have planned!

Email Communication

By registering for a convention or signing up to receive emails from us, you agree to receive convention updates or special offers from our convention sponsors via email. And, while you can completely unsubscribe at any time, please note that our convention sponsors play a critically important role in allowing us to keep convention registration as affordable as possible.

Workshop Sessions

We are honored to have such an outstanding featured speaker roster with literally HUNDREDS of information-packed workshops! Suffice it to say, with 8 to 18 workshops per time slot throughout the convention, you’ll have an abundance of pertinent topics from which you can choose.

  • Workshop sessions are all general admission: first-come, first-seated. You do not need to sign up for the individual sessions.
  • All workshop sessions are allotted up to one hour, and there is a minimum 30-minute break between sessions.
  • While it is the exception and not the rule, please note that workshop speakers and topics are subject to change, with or without notice.

Children’s Program

Children are always welcome at all Great Homeschool Convention events. However, Giant Cow Ministries offers an optional VBS-style children’s conference at each of our events. An additional fee is required. To view pricing, details, and the daily schedule for Giant Cow Ministries at each of our events, please visit their website. Registration is available on their site. Volunteers are accepted beginning at age 13 and up. All participating children are required to be potty-trained.

This program is available for children ages 3–12.

General Convention Information and Overall Content

This is an outstanding and enjoyable event for homeschoolers! We are Christians and have a Statement of Faith and Convention Philosophy.

It is important to note, however, that whereas our Christian faith helps to guide how we structure the convention, we do not require that speakers and exhibitors be in total agreement with our Statement of Faith. So, whereas we will not schedule a speaker or approve an exhibitor that is specifically “anti‐Christian,” we do have speakers and exhibitors that are not specifically “Christian” but that do have incredible knowledge, information, and/or curriculum that is applicable and valuable for homeschoolers, both Christian and non-Christian.

Accordingly, we do not necessarily endorse everything that you may find in the Exhibit Hall or that you may hear in a seminar or workshop session. (There are many, many things that “Christians” do not all agree on, as evidenced by the number of churches and denominations found throughout the world.) Because this convention is an education forum, we do not propose to “filter” everything, allowing you to see or hear only what we have approved. We believe that you, as parents and educators, are capable of judging and making intelligent decisions for yourself and your family.

It should be emphasized that attendees are not allowed to distribute literature of any kind to anyone. This privilege is reserved specifically for exhibitors and is restricted to the Exhibit Hall and to the related exhibitor booths.

Please note: The Convention, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to require anyone that we deem to be disruptive to leave the premises immediately. No refund will be provided.

By registering or signing up to receive emails from us, you agree to receive emails from us that provide convention updates or that provide special offers from our convention sponsors.

Refunds/Cancellations Policy

There are no refunds. If you are unable to attend, there are no refunds… just as there are no refunds or exchanges for tickets to a sporting event, concert or other similar event.
If you notify GHC before the date of the convention you are registered for, you may transfer your convention registration to one of our other conventions – including the next year’s convention. You may also transfer your registration to another individual or family. (A $10 processing fee applies) To inquire about transferring your registration, please email us.
For other customer service questions, please email us.

Working Scholarships/Volunteering for GHC

Nobody has ever been turned away from a Great Homeschool Convention simply because they didn’t have the money to register because of financial hardship. Mom or Dad may work a four‐hour “volunteer” shift in exchange for their entire family being able to attend the rest of the entire convention.

If you’d like to work one of these shifts, please fill out the volunteer form. Include your name, phone number, the convention you are interested in and the “day” you would like to be scheduled to work. We will do all we can to accommodate your request. Once you have submitted your information, our volunteer coordinator will contact you soon via phone and email.

Note: While we have always accommodated all working scholarship requests, you may have to work on a day other than your original requested day.

Additionally, you will be required to pay the registration fee upon arrival at the convention, and then the registration fee will be refunded to you once you’ve completed your volunteer shift. This is because we have previously allowed folks to attend at no charge in exchange for working a volunteer shift only to have them not show up for their shift.

Confirmed Speakers and Exhibitors

While all speakers and exhibitors listed have been confirmed, we recognize that there are times when circumstances change, emergencies happen, etc. To that end, it should be noted that speakers, exhibitors, and schedules are subject to change at any time, with or without notice.

Seating for all speaking sessions and workshops is general admission and first-come, first-served. Seating is limited, obviously, to the capacity of the room or auditorium that particular session or workshop is being held in. If a session is full and no seats are available, please attend a different session. Sitting on the floor is considered a fire code violation by order of the Fire Marshal of each event.

The content of speaker sessions may or may not reflect the opinion of Great Homeschool Conventions, Inc.

Children and Teens

As a common courtesy, we do require that any fussy or crying babies or children be immediately removed from any speaking session or from the Exhibit Hall as to not distract from the convention experience for those around you.

There is a suggested Real Faith for the Real World Teen Track specifically designed for teenagers. Other than the “Teen Track” room, teens with a wristband are welcome to attend any non-Teen Track sessions with or without their parents.

Parents assume all responsibility for their children and their behavior. All children ages 12 and under are to be accompanied at all times by one of their own parents.

Session Recordings

Attendees are not allowed to record any of the sessions. Most of the speaking sessions, however, will be professionally recorded and will be available for purchase for attendees with a Full Family Registration or Full Individual Registration. These recordings are available on-site only and will not be available after the convention.

Meals

No outside food is permitted in any of our venues. You will be able to purchase food and drinks on-site. There are reduced-price on-site meal options specifically for the convention. As a point of emphasis, you cannot bring your own food into the convention center.
